Local travel agency in Vietnam, how does it work?

According to Vietnamese tourism law, a travel agency is legally authorized to offer and organize tours, trips, stays, and other travel services for international travelers visiting Vietnam and/or traveling abroad only when it officially holds the required licenses, including:

  • A Business License of TYPIC travel, issued by the Ministry of Planning and Investment: License No: 0106743189
  • A professional and special license in Tourism (International Tour Operator) issued by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Called since January 2024 by National Tourism Department), directly under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism: TYPIC travel International Tour Operator License No: 01-817 / TCDL - GPLHQT (VNAT)

Why is it necessary to have these licenses?

These licenses help ensure that a travel agency is a legally registered company with the professional qualifications and financial capacity required to design and organize travel programs and provide tourism services to international travelers.

They are also intended to protect travelers booking trips to Vietnam or other destinations operated by the agency.

This is particularly important because there are still unlicensed or anonymous operators that may run one or more websites, offer travel products at attractive prices, collect payments from travelers, and then disappear without providing the promised services.

From 2025, there will be many changes in administrative units in Vietnam, and the agency that follows all these changes has updated its Business License with an adjusted capital of up to 5,000,000 VND (around 200,000 Euros) in deposit. 
The update for the change of the administrative headquarters address from July 1, 2025.

Under Vietnamese law, a travel company providing international travel services must meet specific legal requirements and hold the appropriate International Tour Operator License?

Typic Travel holds an International Tour Operator License No. 01-817/TCDL-GPLHQT, authorizing the company to provide international travel services in accordance with Vietnamese regulations.

The license was issued by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), an agency under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

As required by Vietnamese regulations, international travel service providers must also maintain a security deposit with an eligible bank in Vietnam. Typic Travel Co., Ltd has deposited a financial guarantee of 25,000 € (instead of the required 20,000 €) with Vietcombank and Eximbank Vietnam, two established commercial banks in Vietnam.

This security deposit is maintained as a financial safeguard and may be used, in circumstances prescribed by law, to assist travelers in emergencies when the travel company is unable to provide the necessary funds immediately.
