Already 4 trips to Vietnam… and still the same emotion!

We have returned safely to France and have taken the time to rest after this wonderful trip to Vietnam.

The Hugot family joins Maryse and me in thanking you for putting together such a superb tour, perfectly tailored to our wishes. We had some wonderful encounters, both with the landscapes and the people, and we will forever cherish these magnificent moments in our hearts.

We sincerely thank you for your invitation to rue du Train as well as for the delicious cá chả that we enjoyed in a magnificent setting.
Now regarding the tour, we particularly appreciated: 
  - the guide Vic: she expresses herself well in French and is always attentive to our requests. Although a beginner, she shows perseverance. We are convinced that she will quickly become an excellent guide in the future.
  - the guide Hung: experienced and speaking French very well, he was a very good guide. He knew how to take good initiatives to make the tour smoother and add visits not planned in the program so that we had no downtime.
  - Dac, the driver from the North: we all fell in love with him. Attentive, always available and very kind, he was impeccable in driving the minibus. We never felt unsafe, despite the winding roads and narrow paths taken. He also knew how to choose opportune moments to slow down or stop so that we could take photos along the way. At noon, after the meal, he always offered us different desserts, which we had never tasted, which he had bought in markets or from street vendors.
  - Accommodations : nothing to complain about the different hotels or homestays where we were very well received by the locals and where we ate very well.. 
                                however, we have a small drawback for the homestay YEN NHI : the rooms and the meal were impeccable but the staff, overwhelmed by the massive arrival of motorcyclists, gave us a very cold and smileless welcome, far from the warmth encountered in other homestays. In addition, the evening was very noisy, once the young motorcyclists had too much to drink. We believe that this establishment should be avoided for elderly tourists or families. 
Once again, a big thank you for organizing this magnificent trip, which will remain etched in our memories.
As usual, we will not hesitate to recommend your services to our entourage.
We look forward to exchanging with you again for future tours in Vietnam or Cambodia-Laos.

An unforgettable trip to authentic Vietnam!

I've just returned from a 7-day tour in Northern Vietnam with Typic Travel, and I must say that this experience exceeded all my expectations. From Hanoi to Halong Bay, passing through the terraced rice fields of Mai Chau and Pu Luong, each stop was a wonder.

What particularly struck me was Typic Travel's impeccable organization. Our French-speaking guide is passionate, attentive, and always ready to share his knowledge of Vietnamese culture. He knew how to show us authentic places, far from the usual tourist paths.

The pace was well-balanced between activities and free time, which allowed us to truly immerse ourselves in each location. Transfers were comfortable, with a careful and professional driver.

A small drawback: the somewhat chaotic traffic in Hanoi, but that's also part of Asia's charm! ?

Super trip from North to South with Typic!

There were 4 of us friends who took the plunge in Vietnam and honestly, we regret nothing! Typic Travel put together a great 2-week tour for us, from Hanoi to Saigon.
Our guides were excellent, always in a good mood, and they introduced us to some amazing small restaurants! The laughter in the alleys of Hoi An trying to bargain (unsuccessfully?), the magical cruise in Ha Long Bay, and those incredible moments in Ha Giang where we listened to the locals play the flute... only good memories!

The tour was well-planned, not too rushed, with nice accommodations. We even stayed with locals and tasted their homemade rice wine (be careful, it's strong!).

I've just returned from a trip to Vietnam with my family, organized by Typic Travel. Overall, it was a great experience, but there were some ups and downs.
The positives:

• The itinerary was well-designed; we saw many interesting things without feeling too rushed.
• The local guides were excellent, very friendly, and truly knowledgeable about their country.
• The chosen hotels were spotless, clean, and well-located.

In conclusion, I recommend Typic Travel for discovering Vietnam, but there are still some things to improve. If you're a bit flexible and not too particular about details, you'll have a great time. But if you're the type to plan everything, be prepared for a few surprises.

A beautiful discovery of Vietnam

Hi everyone! I've just returned from a fabulous trip to Vietnam with my husband and I wanted to share our experience with Typic Travel.

Our adventure lasted from September 12 to 26, 2024, two full weeks! We discovered so many wonders: Hanoi, Mai Chau, Pu Luong, Ninh Binh, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An, Can Tho, the Mekong, and Saigon. Every stop was enchanting!

The highlights? Hard to choose! The cruise in Halong Bay with an overnight stay on a junk, it was magical. The walk in Pu Luong National Park, a real breath of fresh air. And what about the floating market in the Mekong? A complete change of scenery!

As for accommodation, we were pleasantly surprised. From comfortable small hotels to more typical lodgings, each night had its charm. We even got an upgrade in Hoi An, how cool is that!

The organization was top-notch. We always had a guide and a driver available, which allowed us to serenely enjoy the visits and walks. The overnight train journey between Hanoi and Hue was a nice experience!

Admittedly, the program was a bit packed at times. Some days were very full with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. But it allowed us to see a maximum of things.

A small downside? Perhaps the somewhat fast pace. An extra free day would have allowed us to relax a bit. But hey, that's the price to pay to discover so many wonders in so little time!

In summary, if you want to discover Vietnam in depth, I highly recommend Typic Travel. Just remember to ask them for one or two days off in the program if you prefer a more relaxed pace.

About Our Journey

As promised, I am getting back to you with some comments.
First of all, thank you very much for this wonderful trip we had thanks to the valuable advice of your agency.
The ease and speed of communications and the quick responses to our questions were highly appreciated.

The drivers and guides were all very kind, polite and punctual, except obviously on the morning of our departure. In this regard, I suggest you always confirm that someone will pick us up the day before departure to the airport or when changing guides and drivers.

Llé was our favorite guide thanks to his knowledge, good humor, availability and his food suggestions which were really welcome.

In the Mai Chau and Pu Luong region, we started our stay well with a lunch at a local's home, which we greatly appreciated. However, for the rest of the stay in this region, we found the food repetitive and we ate a few times in very touristy restaurants with lots of big buses.
We took a private trip to avoid these situations. We would have really preferred small local restaurants like Llé did in the center of the country.

The accommodations met my requests. They were all very well located, clean and welcoming.

We have reservations about two accommodations. The Pu Luong Ohayo did not meet our expectations. The bungalows on stilts were really difficult to access and borderline dangerous. We advise you not to send people our age to this place anymore.

In Hue, the Thanh Lich was very well located. However, there were huge renovations in the hotel and the bar directly opposite was very noisy with its karaokes every evening until midnight.

The 2-night cruise in Lan Ha Bay-Halong Bay charmed us. All the people who took the cruise for only one night were very disappointed. We suggest you recommend the two-night cruise to your potential clients so that they are not disappointed.

Ultimately, know that it is thanks to you that we had an excellent trip in your beautiful country.

Our trip is coming to an end. We had a good visit to the south with our guide Mr Luyen who is very kind, very professional and who strictly followed the visit program. We are all happy with his valuable help.

We returned home this morning at 3:30 AM after 13 hours of flying Saigon/ CDG and Paris/ Bordeaux with 3.5 hours of waiting then 2 hours of delay due to the weather... We were all very tired, but all very happy with the trip.

Now some rest and back to work for the next trip to Vietnam.?

Memories of a trip to Vietnam

Hello Tien,

Here is the report of our trip:

First, I would like to thank you for organizing the tour because everything went very well and we all return with very good memories, especially my French friends who discovered Vietnam and my sister who had not seen the country for over 50 years.

I will now detail the opinions of everyone in the group:

1/ Hotels and homestays:

The accommodations were as described. Very well located, welcoming and clean.

We really enjoyed the night at the homestay in Mai Chau with an excellent welcome from the hosts and a superb Thai dance show.

Regarding the Campement Lodge in Cai Be:

Very good and exotic. However, we found the breakfast very light. We were offered omelets, jam and coffee. We would have liked a little more choice because some people didn't want eggs, a fruit juice in addition to coffee and one or two fresh fruits.

2/ Meals included in the tour price:

    Very good choice of restaurants and the meals are delicious and varied. We were able to taste many local dishes.

3/ The guides:

Very competent and perfectly French-speaking, all know their country perfectly.

We greatly appreciated the guides from the North (Uyen) and Hoi An for their professionalism and kindness. Attentive to our needs, they showed initiative to satisfy our requests.

Despite his undeniable skills, the guide from the South disappointed us with visits that were too fast for our taste, just following the program. The visits to Saigon were very quick, the guide left us at 3 p.m. on the last day.

4/ The negative point of the tour: The cruise on Halong Bay

We were eagerly awaiting this two-day trip with a night aboard the junk.

The cruise was very short because we went from the port to the viewpoint island and back from the island to the port the next day. In 2012, the cruise had lasted longer and we had seen many more typical islets of the bay. Disappointment!

Too many boats and too many tourists, a shame for a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Conclusion:

In the end, we found many positive things and enjoyed the stay. We thank you for your competence and kindness.

My friends and my sister will not fail to promote your agency.

My wife and I will come back to Vietnam again and we will not forget to contact you for other adventures.

We recently had the pleasure of traveling to Vietnam with Typic Travel, and our experience was simply extraordinary. Passionate about culture and history, we were captivated by the diversity of sites visited and the richness of the experiences offered. Our guide warmly welcomed us upon our arrival in Hanoi, and their in-depth knowledge of the country allowed us to live unforgettable moments. From cruises in Ha Long Bay to the spectacular landscapes of Ninh Binh, each stage of our journey was a new discovery. My husband was able to indulge his passion for photography and capture magnificent landscapes.

We particularly appreciated the flexibility of our guide, who was able to adapt to our preferences throughout the stay. Although we encountered a few minor unforeseen events along the way, our agent reacted quickly to resolve the problems and ensure our comfort.

Our trip was a memorable experience, but not without a few minor inconveniences, of course; some car journeys were a bit long, which caused us some fatigue along the way. We would also have appreciated better anticipation of potential logistical problems to avoid prolonged waiting times during certain visits. But despite this, we fully enjoyed our trip and the wonders of Vietnam.

An unforgettable day in Ninh Binh

Hello! I traveled to Vietnam with my friends and we had the opportunity to visit the little gem Ninh Binh. On behalf of the whole group, I'm giving feedback here!

This trip was a truly exceptional experience. Guided by our passion for nature and discovery, we were amazed by the breathtaking landscapes of the region. Our local guide was able to convey his passion for Ninh Binh from our arrival, creating a friendly and more authentic atmosphere.

Regarding the planning of our excursion day, it was impeccable. We were able to fully enjoy each site visited. In case of any issues, our guide proved to be patient and attentive to our needs. We particularly appreciated the variety of activities offered, from bike rides to meeting local residents.

It seems like the most perfect trip in the world, but unfortunately, we couldn't escape a few minor inconveniences. For example, regarding meal organization, a greater variety of dishes could have been offered to satisfy all tastes in the group, as there were 4 of us with different dietary preferences. We also had some difficulty finding clean and accessible restrooms during our travels. Aside from that, our excursion was memorable! Thank you to the whole team for this wonderful trip!

Experience feedback

All the drivers were also friendly. In Hanoi, the driver always had water in the car, which was appreciated, except for the one in Ho Chi Minh.

Regarding the food, it was excellent in Hanoi; you had selected superb restaurants. In fact, I think you can reduce the number of dishes, we are not used to eating all that in France 

However, in Ho Chi Minh, the restaurant was average, and the restaurant in Can Tho (I think) at lunchtime was not very good. It was more like a cafeteria with not much choice of dishes.

The hotels were also very good, but the breakfast at the hotel in Can Tho (Palace) was not very good.

The hotel in Phu Quoc was very good. The staff was very kind, and the New Year's Eve dinner was also very good.

So, I wanted to thank you for this very pleasant trip.

Good evening Tien,

Our trip was fabulous. Everything was perfectly organized. We never waited, never wasted time. The visits and activities followed one another, just as we like.

Son is a fantastic guide. He is very kind and cultured. His French is excellent. The children loved him and so did we!

Nghia is kind too, but very, even too discreet, and speaks French a little less well.

We loved Ha Long Bay, especially the day with BaiTho, off the beaten path. We were able to swim and kayak far from mass tourism, in a still preserved bay. The pearl farm is magnificent. However, the kayaking on the 3rd day with VSpirit was less interesting.

The night train to Sapa is great. We loved this experience!

Son took us to an excellent restaurant in Sapa as soon as we arrived.

The hikes were suitable for the children, it was just what was needed. Son even took us to see a school, as we had asked him to. 

The homestay was good, but it's a shame they were doing work on their house. 

Superb hike on the 2nd day, passing through the bamboo forest and the waterfall.

Nice walk around Ta Phin, we even had time to take a herbal bath, while Son played with the children!

The last restaurant in Sapa, next to the Boutique Hotel, which we liked less. 

Boutique Hotel very good. We had a superb room.

Chua Thay and Tay Phuong are magnificent.

Nice welcome from the Muongs at lunchtime, they wanted to please us and made us eat at a table, but we would have preferred to eat with them on the mat.

Accommodation in Mai Chau very beautiful, too bad we don't have breakfast there, the view is very beautiful. Walk around the rice fields very good too. Nghia adapted to our requests, we wanted to see people cutting rice.

The cycling day was great. Bich Dong Pagoda and Hang Mua mountain are sublime. The children loved climbing the 450 steps! Excellent restaurant at lunchtime.

Sampan in Thung Nham incredible, because we were alone in the cave! No tourists! It was incredible and magical. We came back to cycle in Thung Nham park the next day, without the guide. It's a beautiful place.

We came back with many wonderful memories in our heads. What a chance to have been able to share this adventure with our children. It's largely thanks to you.

The two guides Nhia and Nam were very good, very kind, considerate, and efficient. We loved Nam who made us have an excellent time. (Guide in Sapa) The drivers were also very kind. Le Foyer hotel is not bad. Very well located. Chez Loan hotel was our favorite. (Rooms, restaurant, pool, and breakfast). There was indeed a pool that made Gaspard, our son, very happy)...... Overall, the trip organization was great. The 2 nights at the homestay were awesome. Very welcoming. The meals prepared for us were hearty and delicious. Indeed, it was very clean. We didn't sleep well but it was great nonetheless. ... Overall, it was very good, we will recommend your services.

Magnificent tour in Vietnam thanks to Typic Travel and Mr. Tien

1/ The Tour: Excellent. The four of us went on a tailor-made tour and Mr. TIEN largely met our expectations. Indeed, the visits were all informative, diverse, and well-organized. We particularly loved the elephant ride, the basket sampans, My Son, Lak Lake, and Cu Chi. We made beautiful discoveries in Dalat and Buon Me Thuot (the Nguyen iced coffee is a delight). During our walks, on foot or by bike during free slots, we were able to immerse ourselves in the bustling life of the Vietnamese, thus noticing their immense kindness.

2/ The hotels: We appreciated the Thuy Duong III hotel in Hoi An and Dakruco in Ban Me Thuot. (Well located and pleasant reception staff) The Lak Tent Camp is a complete change of scenery. We particularly loved this camp where we were able to go for a bike ride in nature, enjoy a dinner show, and witness the magnificent sunrise. Very welcoming staff. Ngoc Lan in Dalat is also an excellent hotel. However, it is too close to the night market, so it is very noisy. Next time, I will choose a hotel a little further away from the city center. Asian Ruby in Saigon is the least good of the tour. (Unsmiling reception staff, very long wait for hot water, narrow rooms, very dirty corridor...) Not recommended.

3/ The guides: Very competent and perfectly French-speaking, all the guides know their country perfectly. We greatly appreciated the guides from Buon Me Thuot (Tung), Dalat (Lam), and Saigon (Nim) for their professionalism and kindness. They showed initiative to satisfy our requests and were attentive to all our needs.

Conclusion: Very satisfied, we will certainly use your agency for our next trip to Vietnam.

Everything went very well for our first week in Vietnam.
In Sapa, our guide Than was super kind to us, very pleasant and was able to answer all the questions we asked him, whether about rice culture or the life of ethnic minorities, he was able to help us discover and appreciate this beautiful region. We were very well received by the family where we slept, very good dinner in the evening.
Very good guide also for Ha Long Bay, very nice room, beautiful boat, very very hearty meals!!! Demonstration by the cook of his talents in preparing different dishes, visit to the superb cave, in short everything suited us perfectly.
We have been in Saigon since yesterday, I prefer Hanoi, Saigon is too modern for me but my children liked it, we went up to the top of the Bitexco tower, impressive view!!!
This morning we leave for 3 days in the delta and then join Phnom Penh by boat, so we are not going back through Hanoi but thank you very much for your invitation, we would have been happy to meet your family.

"Our group of 7 people particularly enjoyed this trip concocted by TYPIC TRAVEL with guide Nam for 3 weeks; everything we had proposed was remarkably carried out; getting to know the local population by staying in guest houses, having a good hotel from time to time, doing a trek and walks, navigating by rowboat, by motorboat, cycling, getting off the beaten tourist paths... the travel times we had requested to avoid too much driving were very accurate, which allowed us to have a good balance of visits without too much fatigue; we were also touched by the welcome of the population... hello and a smile make life easier! perhaps, however, suggest a different and less touristy circuit in Halong Bay to your future clients... because this mass tourism after 3 weeks in peace is difficult to bear... perhaps suggest two days in Cat Ba, because this island seems to have significant hiking potential. Perhaps also, as I suggested, plan a stop on the way back in this beautiful off-the-beaten-path itinerary in the tea fields. Thank you in any case for your impeccable organization, thank you to Nam for his kindness and skills. We will travel with you again probably next February to the south and the highlands for 15 days, with a one-week extension to Cambodia. We enjoyed the tour, even though we didn't visit a tea plantation, we particularly enjoyed the trek from Babe. We found the time very long upon our arrival in Cao Bang, this city, apart from its market, does not offer many tourist attractions and exuded sadness.

With Vinh, we had some language comprehension problems, in any case, he was inexhaustible on the history and life of the country. The driver Kong is a charming and considerate person. For the Homestay accommodation, at BaBe with Sao, it was very, very good. It is a very pleasant family, the meals are delicious, hearty and friendly, everything is very clean and comfortable.

In Cao Bang, the welcome was not very friendly and we had difficulty getting smiles from the staff, no one speaks English or French in this establishment, comfortable and very clean room.

Regarding the meals, we naturally enjoyed eating "Vietnamese style"!

Many thanks for the lacquer painting, whose manufacturing technique we learned about at the lacquer workshop, thanks to Vinh.

First, sorry for not replying sooner, but we've resumed our usual activities and as always, we never have enough time!

We arrived back safely after problem-free flights.
It's a bit difficult to get back into the French rhythm after the wonderful and beautiful tour we had thanks to you and Sylvie.

Regarding our impressions, overall they are largely positive, both in terms of the tour itself and the guides and drivers.
For the feedback forms, we only gave one to Viêt because for Dung, he wasn't the one who took us to Da Nang airport, and for Phung, given the family problem he had, the last day in Saigon didn't make us feel like filling out the questionnaire.
So, I will try to give you a report of our impressions and comments about our trip.

Northern part

Regarding Viêt, he was truly our favorite guide; a real friendship developed over the days between the group and Viêt. He is truly attentive and listens to everyone. Moreover, his knowledge of Vietnam's history, flora, and daily life enchanted us.
He immediately understood our expectations and integrated into the group in a truly friendly manner; we almost had all our meals with him (unlike the other 2 guides) and that was a real plus, truly good moments shared together.
For the 2 drivers (Sapa and the rest) it was very good, buses always clean and smooth driving despite the northern roads!
The one in Hanoi, very kind with the children and despite the language barrier, we got along well.

Hôtel le foyer in Hanoi: very decent and really well located, you're immediately in the atmosphere when you step out. Breakfast on the top floor with a small terrace was very nice. 
Visits and discoveries of Hanoi very good despite the heat which tired us out.
You should really suggest the Museum of Ethnology which we really enjoyed, both for the site and for the cultural history of Vietnam, very very interesting.
The restaurants in Hanoi, all very good, hearty and varied, with a special mention for the restaurant where we ate grilled fish, excellent and no tourists!!

Very good also at Duong lam homestay.

Night trains Hanoi-Lao Cai and return
Well, we kind of knew what to expect, it's rustic, moderately comfortable and not very clean. But it makes for memories!

Hôtel Sapa élite, nothing to say, very good.
Ethnic trek of Cao Son super nice.
Zay homestay, very good, we spent a memorable evening due to a general power outage, so the evening took place around flashlights, Nems and rice alcohol!! Well, the next day, it was a bit hard to get going.
Note that we did not sleep where we were initially supposed to, another group having decided to stay an extra night. Once again, Viêt found a solution and everything worked out for the best.

For the treks in the valley, truly beautiful despite the rain which made the paths very slippery.
All meals very good except one (I'll come back to it), Viêt understood that we wanted to eat local like the Vietnamese and not tourist-adapted cuisine.
And precisely we were very disappointed by the restaurant "Le Bordeaux" in Lao Cai the evening before taking the night train, it's really a tourist restaurant that serves anything and everything, moreover what is served is really mediocre, you even have to ask for chopsticks!!

Return to Hanoi at 04:30! Tough, fortunately thanks to you for the 3 hours at the hotel where we could take a shower and have breakfast.

Mai Chau: very good on all levels, interest of the region, meals, accommodation, walks. Very kind attention from Viêt, in the evening who offered a huge cake to Emmanuel who was celebrating his 9th birthday that day. Good show by a folk group in the evening where everyone participated.

Ninh Binh - Tam Coc
The boat trips and caves truly exotic and interesting.
Easy bike rides in beautiful places.
Tam Coc Ricefields, the place is magnificent and the lodges very beautiful and well-appointed, it's truly superb and clean. The problem, in our opinion, is the staff, not professional enough, and that's a real shame in a structure like this.
For example, we had given some clothes to wash, and they returned ours and someone else's.
We had drinks in the evening at the billiard table, the next morning, nothing had been cleaned.
The breakfast table was set in the evening for the next day, but in the morning, everything had to be removed because everything was wet with dew.
All of this is fortunately compensated by the kindness of the staff, but it doesn't look professional and it's a shame for a place like this.
Another negative point, we had free dinner in the evening and not wanting to eat on site, we decided to eat in Tam Coc. Unfortunately, no taxi wanted to come to the Lodge, too far and not accessible according to the receptionist, a solution was still found thanks to the owner of a pickup who took us to Tam Coc and came to pick us up after the meal, 11 people in the pickup... memories guaranteed.

Halong, it's a must-see in Vietnam but we were very disappointed. Too many boats, too many tourists, everyone does the same things in the same places and it's very disappointing.
Nevertheless, the site is magnificent.
Nothing to say about the "junk" comfort, service and meals but not very typical and drinks quite expensive nonetheless.
Moreover, what really spoils the site is all the rubbish floating on the water (plastic bottles, bags, various debris...)
Returned earlier than expected due to a storm but that didn't bother us.

Night train to Hué more comfortable than to Sapa but 2 hours late on arrival due to a storm.

Central part

Contact with our new guide Dung, not the same style as Viêt, more reserved and distant from the group, a very good visit to the imperial palace despite the bad weather.
Hotel in Hué very decent, journey from Hué to Hoi An via the Hai Van Pass and Da Nang very pleasant with a very comfortable bus (the best we had)
Interesting visits to the marble factories of Da Nang and the silk worm factory of Hoi An.

Very good restaurants in Hué and Hoi An but we still regret that the guide kept his distance.
Hotel in Hoi An perfect.

Southern Part

Uneventful flight from Da Nang to Saigon and welcome by Phuong our guide for this part of Vietnam.
Visit of Saigon very interesting but a little short, not wanting to visit the lacquer factory (already done in Hanoi), Phung found himself a little unprepared without a plan B, so we took advantage of the late afternoon and evening to discover the city by ourselves.
Hotel Sabbah very decent, nice view of Saigon from the terrace.

Visit of the floating markets very nice as well as the visits to local manufactures.
Very good lunch in a beautiful setting at Mr Kiet's in the historic house.
Thanks to Phung for taking us to a local restaurant in the evening where we were truly the only tourists and where we ate very well.
Hotel Fortuland in Can Tho, very good and the best breakfast of the whole stay.
Homestay in Xã An Binh very, very good
We really enjoyed the floating market of Can Tho as well as the walk in the ecological gardens.
The last day in Saigon was a little more somber due to Phuong's announcement of his brother's death the previous night in a scooter accident. With our agreement, we released him after visiting the Binh Tay market where we were truly impressed....it was crazy!!
Very, very good lunch in a large restaurant on Pasteur street.
So it was just with the driver that we said goodbye to Vietnam with images, flavors and encounters filling our minds.
One negative point for the Southern part, however, is that we could not put our luggage in the bus's trunk, which required piling them up in the back by passing them through the window. It was really not practical.

In summary, thanks to both of you, we had an excellent stay that met our wishes and the established program.
